I started Chinese Brush Painting as a
hobby more than 25 years ago - it soon became a way of life! I have
attended classes with various Chinese and English teachers, and even now
continue to develop both my work and knowledge of Chinese Art and Culture.
(This includes website design courses with Kay Gugliotta at Knuston Hall!) My
work is in many private collections including Chinese.
As a tutor at various Adult Education Colleges throughout the UK (see Courses page), I enjoy demonstrating my skills, and passing the joy of this art form to a wide range of students. I also carry out a limited programme of talks to Art Groups.
I am the author of various
books on this subject. These are listed below, showing the publishers of
different editions. Further editions and compilations have been published since.

In 2007 I edited 5 books for a Chinese publishing house (Foreign Languages Press), working with Wen Jingen whom I met in Birmingham in 2000. These books were aimed at Western visitors to China for the Olympics, featuring Landscapes, Figures, Bird and Flower, Regular and Running calligraphy (an Animal book in the same series is about to be published - it is excellent!)
In
1987/8 I helped to found the Chinese Brush Painters Society, have served as
Secretary, Chairman and now edit and produce the CBPS quarterly Newsletter.
